Vehicles on Sri Lanka

The different vehicles on the island are subject of some galleries. Especially we love the often brightly painted buses and the old trucks. But the the omnipresent tuktuk and cars like something from another time excited our attention ...

Buses on Sri Lanka

From the beginning we love the buses on Sri Lanka. Wonderfully colorful they are the uncrowned ruler on the streets of the island. The brands "Lanka Ashok Leyland" and "Tata" are dominat. Both we have each granted their own gallery.

Morris Oxford

In most places in the world would have to probably pay for the trip in a vintage - not so in Sri Lanka. Everything here is just used a bit longer, sometimes until it falls apart. Anyway, we enjoyed the ride in the elegant "Morris Oxford". We were transported with it just for a trekking tour from and back the hotel. Geil!

TukTuks

TukTuk are ubiquitous on Sri Lanka. They are the means of transport Nummero one in the country. Countless TukTuks roam the streets as taxis. Often tourists are approached for a job or if not, simply thumb out and within no time you booked its transport.

Attention here negotiating skills is in demand.

We found TukTuks not only practical but also very nice.

by railroad

Traveling by train in Sri Lanka is not very comfortable, but it makes a lot of fun. Moreover, it is dirt cheap from a Central European perspective. Exaggerated security measures do not exist here. At the, because of the heat, most open doors, you can permanently look outside. The responsibility not to fall off the train everyone carries himself. We enjoyed this very much and Jens was of course constantly on the doors to take pictures and movies. Clip by train from Nanu Oya to Ella and than to Badulla
